Do you have a
tattered, faded old photograph that you would like
to see restored to its original state?
 |
Do any of your photos have undesirable background
subjects that "upstage" or detract from the main
subject?
 |
Recent advances in
software technology have allowed the photographer to achieve
truly miraculous results in the restoration and manipulation
of photographs. Damaged photos that were once considered
unsalvageable can now be given a new lease on life in the
"digital darkroom", and undesirable backgrounds and subject
items can often be deleted out of frame.
Many image
manipulation programs come with automatic restoration
features such as "red eye removal" built in. While these
automated applications can do certain tasks acceptably,
other more advanced restoration techniques require the
careful eye and skilled expertise of a photographer. Like an
artist's paintbrush, merely possessing the tools does not
mean anyone can create a Michelangelo! Experience can and
does make all the difference, and that is where I come "into
frame" for you.
I first started doing
image restoration and manipulation over 11 years ago. In
that time span, I have honed my very own techniques that can
often achieve incredible results. I am quite proud of my
work and will let it speak for itself. Below are several
examples of my work in image manipulation and restoration.
As you look at these
sample images toggle "before and after", examine them
carefully for tell-tale signs the image has been
manipulated. I think you will appreciate the fact that even
when looking for clues that the image has been altered, that
it is often difficult if not impossible to spot restoration
"artifacts" in my work - even when actively looking for
them...

Now that you have seen
the images toggle "before and after", you know their
secrets. So step back and cast an impartial eye to
my work. Imagine yourself the casual viewer of one
of these retouched images - someone who is unaware the image
has been manipulated in any way. Even when actively looking
for imperfections, you'll find they are often difficult if
not impossible to spot. In that regard I believe that
someone who is NOT looking over the image for signs it has
been manipulated, will in all likelihood never know it has
been altered.

As it is impossible to know how many hours of restoration
work must be applied to a particular image without seeing
the image first, I ask that you send a scanned image to me

Controversy
and Skepticism
As a photographer and
paranormal investigator who not only confesses to, but
actively solicits his advanced image manipulation skills,
some will no doubt question the validity of still images I
present as evidence of the paranormal. Knowing I possess
these advanced skills, this is of course an honest, and very
valid question to ask.
Note that I have
presented images that have been "enhanced" from my
investigations; however this is limited to enhancing the
brightness/contrast ratios and/or gamma levels in a photo. I
do this to bring out more faint anomalies in photos that
would otherwise not be visible. I do however always retain
the untouched, original images for comparison purposes. I do
not "add" extra subjects into my paranormal photos, and
I have not and will never fraudulently manipulate a
photo which I present as evidence, nor will I knowingly
manipulate an image for an outside party to present as
evidence.
Some believe that one
of the downfalls of digital images is that you cannot tell a
digital image has been altered, and this is NOT TRUE.
Tampering with images usually leaves subtle tell-tale signs
that the file has been altered. Signs that an experienced
digital photographer can spot. Those who know me personally
will attest that I care too much about our field to ever
"manufacture" evidence of the paranormal, and even if I
didn't have the moral and ethical aversion to such fraud, it
would likely be caught by someone with a skilled eye. |
